Project Description
The key elements of the scheme delivery are detailed below.
Provision of a new Signalling Centre, incorporating a new NX signaller's panel, to replace the existing Barnham Signal Box and transfer of the control and supervision of signalling in the Barnham control area to the new SB.
Provision of Alstom's 2MHz SSI system to replace the existing electromechanical interlocking. Renewal of the signalling infrastructure associated with Barnham SB on the Bognor lines, up to the 20¾ milepost on the Arundel lines, and as far as the 24 milepost on the Chichester line. This included replacement of main colourlight signals by Dorman Light Emitting Diode (LED) Searchlight units and replacement of mechanical ground signals by three Aperture LED units. A variety of existing point actuators were replaced by Alstom HW2000 series electric point machines and AC double and single rail track circuits were replaced by TI21 and HVI track circuits.
Supervision of the existing Yapton and Woodhorn Automatic Half Barrier level crossings (AHBCs) and control and monitoring of the existing Woodgate manually Controlled Barrier (MCB) – Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) level crossing was transferred to the new Barnham SC.
Provision of a new Dual Train Describer (DTD) and SPAD Alert, based on the Sapphire T48 hardware platform in the new Barnham SC.
Provision of operational signalling interfaces from the Barnham SC to Arundel SC, Chichester SC and Bognor SB. This included, as and where applicable, alterations to Block Bells, Absolute Block Controls, TD, Emergency Alarm and Voice Communications together with all signalling functions necessary for the safe operation of the railway.

Secure trackside distribution via four main 650V ac single phase feeders and 110V ac feeders.
Provision of telecommunications facilities including the following:-
Lineside telephones, SC telephones, Data Transmission, Space Technology Systems (STS) intertec concentrator, Voice Recorder, Cab Secure Radio (CSR) alterations.
Provision of P–way works to include the conversion of Mechanical Points to Electric as well as the provision of new switches and IBJ's.
